The family at the centre of the recent baby theft incident say although they are satisfied with government’s swift intervention that led to the recovery of their child, they are demanding justice to serve as a deterrent to others.

Father of the baby Mohammed Agyemang, made the call when the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, paid a courtesy visit to the mother and child at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The father expressed gratitude to the medical staff, security agencies and government officials for their coordinated efforts in locating the baby.

However, he stressed that those responsible for the incident must face the full rigors of the law to prevent a recurrence.

‘‘The bottom line is that the baby has been found. We have seen all that the Health Minister and Gender Minister are doing. They have done their best, but the law must work to ensure these acts stop. I hear of such things but never have I seen it like this.’’ He said.

Authorities at Mamprobi say measures are being strengthened to enhance security within maternity wards, including stricter access control and improved surveillance systems, while seeking government support for expansion works to create more space.

The baby, who was reported missing shortly after birth, was later rescued through a joint operation by hospital security and law enforcement agencies.

Both mother and child are in stable condition.
