The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has expressed confidence in the Government’s implementation of the 24-hour economy policy, assuring Ghanaians that the programme will be rolled out in line with the President’s commitments.

Speaking exclusively to TV3 ahead of the presentation of the State of the Nation Address, he said the NDC administration remains focused on delivering its promises and is optimistic about the successful execution of its flagship economic initiatives.

“The bottom line is that the President has been delivering and we are very optimistic that he is going to keep to his promise that he made to the nation. Just be rest assured,” Mr. Debrah said.

Mr. Debrah explained that the Government has followed due process in operationalising the policy, including securing parliamentary approval and establishing an Authority to oversee its implementation.

“As a government, you don’t rush into implementing policies and if you follow the 24-hour programme, we have taken it to Parliament. It has now become an Authority and we are going to roll out according to the plan of the President,” he stated.

The 24-hour economy is a key policy initiative of the President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, aimed at encouraging businesses and institutions to operate around the clock to boost productivity, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.

Government officials say the establishment of the authority marks a significant step toward full implementation of the programme. The authority is expected to coordinate stakeholders, develop operational guidelines, and support sectors capable of sustaining round-the-clock operations.

The policy is regarded as central to the government’s broader economic transformation agenda, particularly in addressing unemployment and improving industrial output.

Mr. Debrah reassured the public that the government remains committed to executing the programme in a structured and sustainable manner to achieve its intended economic benefits.
