The Western North Regional Director of Education, Richard Boateng has called on Ghanaians to reflect on the true meaning of independence and work towards translating it into real development in their communities.

Speaking during the 69th Independence Day celebration in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, the Director stressed that Ghana’s independence was not only a political declarati on but also a commitment to building a nation founded on opportunity, justice, and progress.

According to the Director, this year’s theme for the celebration, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” must not be treated as mere rhetoric but rather as a practical guide for leadership and national development.

He noted that the theme should challenge citizens and leaders alike to move beyond speeches and ceremonial celebrations and instead focus on meaningful actions that will improve lives.

The Regional Director further emphasized that the essence of Ghana’s independence should be seen in tangible development within homes, schools, churches, and communities across the country.

He therefore urged stakeholders, particularly in the education sector, to remain committed to nurturing responsible citizens who will contribute to national growth and prosperity.

The celebration brought together traditional authorities, government officials, teachers, students, and residents of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality to commemorate Ghana’s independence and reflect on the nation’s progress.
