The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has pleaded with the Inspector General of Police and National House of Chiefs to intervene in the alleged sale of farmlands in Asekesu in the Asamankese area.

According to the Association, the Chief of Asekesu’s sale of farmlands is causing outrage among locals as tensions are running high.

In a statement signed by the National President of the Association, Farmer General Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, on Monday, March 16, 2026, he said if action is not taken, violence may break out.

According to him, the same chief led the destruction of cocoa farms at Asekesu to pave way for rubber plantations, affecting farmers’ livelihoods.

This resulted in the death of a young cocoa farmer in December 2024, with the case pending at the Asamankese District court.

The Association is urging the IGP and the National House of Chiefs to investigate the chief’s actions, address the concerns of the community and ensure protection for the residents, warning of imminent danger if care is not taken.
