The Black Stars went 1-5 down to Austria in their first preparatory match for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Austrians, ranked 24th in the world, broke the deadlock in the 13th minute after Marcel Sabitzer converted from the spot. It was handball against defender Jonas Adjei Adjetey.
The Stars, therefore, went was 0-1 down into the break.
With Ralf Rangnick making five changes at the start of the second half, his team wasted no time to double their lead.
FC Augsburg’s Michael Gregoritsch connected to a pass from a defensive blunder by Caleb Yirenkyi.
Stefan Posch made it 3-0 from a corner kick, which left Otto Addo’s side found wanting.

Though captain Jordan Ayew pulled one back with 13 minutes to go, Carney Chukwuemeka and Nicolas Seiwald scored two more goals to end the score 5-1.
Ghana’s next match will be against Germany on Monday while Austria face Korea Republic in their next friendly on Tuesday.
