The Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has visited New Town following the collapse of a building that resulted in the death of 3 persons and several others injured.
On Monday, March 30, the Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was at the accident scene to get first-hand information.
She was accompanied by the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak.
The Vice President queried who authorized the putting up of the building.
“Who authorised this…it doesn’t matter, what is wrong is wrong.’’ She fumed.
She further emphasized the need for strict adherence to building regulations, warning that negligence in construction must not be tolerated.
Professor Naana Jane also visited survivors receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, the Police Hospital, and the University of Ghana Medical Centre.
She interacted with the injured and medical staff, and wished the victims a speedy recovery and commended health workers for their dedication and swift response in attending to the casualties.
Meanwhile, authorities say they have launched investigations into the incident to establish the exact cause of the collapse.
