The Group of the Year category which was recently missing from the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominee list has been announced, nominations for two other categories have been revealed.
Last year, the TGMA Board annulled the category with concerns that there is not a sufficient number of qualifying groups to sustain the category.
Following its exclusion from this year’s nominee announcement, Ghanaian music duo, Lali X Lola appealed to the Board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to reinstate the Group of the Year Category.
Keche also expressed worry over the absence of the category in the nomination list.
Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards revealed nominations for this year’s Group of the Year category on TV3’s The Afternoon Show, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Nominations for the Best Group of the Year are; Lali x Lola, Soul Winners, Keche and Bethel Revival Choir.
The scheme also revealed nominations for the African Song of the Year; LAHO II by Shallipopi ft. Burna Boy, Kelebu – Rhema, Nakupenda – TxC, Davido, Shoday & Scotts Maphuma, Chanel – Tyla, With You – Davido ft. Omah Lay and Joy Is Coming – Fido
Music for Good, a category for artistes who are using song and their influence to address any social cause within society was also unveiled.
The nominees are; Tree for Life by Nacee, Croh It Out by Lali X Lola, Stop Galamsey Now by Nacee, Asaase Nnwom (Earth Song) by Rama Blak and Opoku Brew.
The main awards ceremony of the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for May 9, 2026.
