Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has arrived in Congo’s capital, Brazzaville, for the investiture of their President-elect, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, for his re-election to serve another five-year term as President of the Republic of the Congo.

The President departed for the event right after inaugurating the Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

The president is expected to join several African heads of state and high-level dignitaries at Thursday morning’s ceremony, which marks the formal commencement of President Sassou N’Guesso’s new mandate.

The visit also reinforces Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties within Africa, particularly with Central African states.

President Mahama is scheduled to depart Brazzaville and return to Accra later today, Thursday, April 16.
