The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has commended the efforts of NDC members in the December 7, 2024 general elections.
He said their hard work has saved Ghana from the economic difficulties experienced during the tenure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government.
The National Chairman of NDC made this remark to calm down high expectations of members of the party in terms of appointment to public positions during his two-day ‘Thank You Tour’ of the Upper East Region.
At the first stop in the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Regional ‘Thank You Tour’, the Mr Nketiah and members of the party addressed a huge crowd of NDC members in the Constituency assuring them of jobs and development and that with time, everyone will benefit of his or her hard work.
“My message is in three parts. First is to come and thank you for the role you played in the 2024 campaign and the subsequent massive victory that you returned in the general elections. As has been said by earlier speakers, the victory was unprecedented and I thank you very much for the role you played,”he said.
According to him, “I was around during the campaigning, we worked together. I saw how many of you, particularly the branch executives, struggled in moving from village to village, town to town, house to house, to try and canvass votes. We cannot identify you individually, but I know there were people whose job was to go and hoist the flags and paste the posters. We want to thank them very much.
Mr Nketiah urged those who are yet to be appointed to public service positions to be patient.
“…even for a certain category, they may not have them when they are alive, but their children and their grandchildren will benefit from the party. What should give you satisfaction is that Your work has helped to save Mother Ghana from the tyranny of the NPP government. So even if you have not realized anything that you expected, you must have satisfaction in the fact that when the history of this country comes to be written, you will be counted as one of the people who stood up and saved Ghana from the tyranny of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government,” he said.
The MP for Talensi, Duung Mahama outlined the development projects the government has undertaken since assumption of power.
Earlier, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area Naab Kugbilsong Nalegbegtang to announce his presence in the area.
The Paramount Chief eulogized the NDC government for imitating key projects in the traditional area and called for unity among political parties.
The NDC’s National Chairman and his entourage continued with the tour to the rest of the six constituencies that he is billed to tour.
