Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has celebrated Ghanaian workers on the occasion of the May Day (Workers’ Day) celebration.

Dr Bawumia said that the hard work of the workers drives the nation forward and builds the foundation for a better future.

“Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and dedication of every Ghanaian worker. Your hard work drives our nation forward and builds the foundation for a better future.

“As we mark this day, may we continue to strive for fairness, opportunity and progress for all. Happy Workers’ Day!” he wrote on Facebook.

May Day is recognised worldwide as a day to celebrate the contributions of workers.

In Ghana, it is marked with parades, speeches by labour leaders and government officials, and discussions on working conditions.

The day also brings workers together and draws attention to the struggles that have shaped the labour movement. Trade unions use the occasion to engage the government on wages, job security and workplace safety.

This year’s observance comes at a time when labour unions continue to push for better conditions and fair pay amid economic pressures.
