The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has issued a passionate call for collective action, appealing to organised labour, corporate bodies, traditional authorities, and citizens to support the establishment of a modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Takoradi Hospital.

Speaking at the 2026 May Day parade at Takoradi on May 1, he described the project as a critical regional priority.

The Minister declared that no productive workforce can thrive without quality healthcare.

“Your hands and your minds are your greatest capital. Equip yourselves, sharpen your skills, embrace innovation, and position yourselves to take advantage of emerging opportunities.”

He noted that the Western Regional Health Directorate has itself identified emergency and quality healthcare improvement as central to the region’s current development agenda.

“This ICU project will bring life‑saving specialised care closer to workers and their families and significantly improve emergency medical response within the region.

I therefore appeal to organised labour, corporate institutions, traditional authorities, faith‑based organisations, assemblies, and all well‑meaning citizens to support this important initiative,” he pleaded.

The Minister also stressed that macroeconomic stability must yield real benefits for ordinary Ghanaians.

“Stability must translate into jobs, incomes, and renewed hope.”

As Ghana continues on the path of rebuilding prosperity and restoring hope, he reminded all that no government can achieve transformation without the cooperation of labour, and no economy can flourish without peace and industrial harmony.

He therefore called on government, employers, unions, civil society, and workers to deepen collaboration, dialogue, and patriotism in pursuit of a stronger economy and a better future for all.
