For many final-year students of Amoaya Senior High School in the Bodi district of the Western North region, preparing for the 2026 WASSCE had become a daily struggle.
Some students were forced to squeeze together on broken or inadequate desks during classes and mock examinations, while school authorities battled feeding challenges as the examination period drew closer.
But hope and relief arrived for the students when the Member of Parliament for the Bodi and Deputy Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, donated 300 dual desks, 100 bags of rice, cooking oil and GH¢10,000 in cash to support the school.
The items were presented on his behalf by the Bodi District Chief Executive, Stephen Baidoo, during a visit to the school ahead of the commencement of the 2026 WASSCE.
According to the DCE, the MP had earlier visited the school and was touched by the condition under which students were studying.
“About two weeks ago, the MP visited the school and realized students were lacking desks to comfortably prepare for their exams. He promised to support the school, and today he has fulfilled that promise because education remains one of his priorities,” he stated.
For the students, the donation means more than just desks and food supplies. It represents comfort, motivation and renewed confidence ahead of one of the most important examinations in their academic journey.
“We are very happy because some of us were struggling during studies due to lack of desks. Now we can learn comfortably and focus on our exams. We thank the MP for remembering us,” one student said.
School authorities also described the intervention as timely, saying the support will ease pressure on management and create a better environment for effective teaching and learning.
Parents and residents in the area have meanwhile praised the MP for what they describe as a thoughtful and timely investment in the future of the students.
