The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have announced a series of planned maintenance works across four regions on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
ECG says the works will result in temporary power outages in several communities.
According to separate notices issued by the power distributors, the maintenance works are intended to improve electricity infrastructure and ensure stable power supply, although the exercises will disrupt electricity supply for varying periods depending on the location.
In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas including Dzen Ayor, Ability, Haatso Trotro Station, Agbogba Junction, 37 and nearby communities.
The Accra West Region will also experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in areas such as Broadcasting, New Bortianor, Adanseman, Cassava Farms, Mr. Obeng, Oshieyie and surrounding communities.
In the Tema Region, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in areas including Sackey, Bediako, High Tension, Golf City, Bright Star School, Jericho, Roman Down, Underbridge Market, State School for the Deaf, Adjei Kodjo, Kanawu, Community 22, Michell Camp and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, in the Central Region, ECG says planned maintenance works from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will affect several communities, including Apam Junction, Apam Township, Mumford and a number of Gomoa communities such as Gomoa Dago, Gomoa Ajumako, Gomoa Akwakrom, Gomoa Obokrom, Gomoa Kumasi and Gomoa Koforidua.
In the Volta Region, GRIDCo will undertake emergency maintenance works at the Aflao Bulk Supply Point from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting Denu, Aflao, Ave Towns, Hedzranawo, Havedzi, Kedzi, Adina, Agavedzi, Keta, Dzodze, Abor and parts of Akatsi among other communities.
The Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Grid Company apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused and appealed for public cooperation while engineers carry out the necessary maintenance works.
