Residents of Adaklu Helekpe have been left devastated following a mudslide incident that destroyed a school and some residential properties.
The incident is said to have occurred Wednesday night around 7pm after a heavy downpour that lasted between 2pm to 8pm.
The scene looks extremely troubling as three vehicles including a bus belonging to the school have also been damaged.
The entire premises of the school and some of its buildings have been filled with mud and very heavy slurry rocks that came down from the Adaklu mountain.
Residents say two persons, a woman and the son were trapped in one of the buildings but were later rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment with the two sustaining various degrees of injuries and fractures.
District Chief Executive of the area, Jerry Ameko, in an interview has directed that the school be temporarily closed down to allow for further assessment of the area.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and NADMO were seen Thursday morning conducting safety assessment following the incident.
