He emphasized that whether Muslim or non-Muslim, every citizen shares the responsibility to maintain harmony, as progress cannot be achieved in a divided community.

The Minister took the opportunity to address several urgent social issues. He expressed deep concern over the rising rate of drug abuse among the youth, calling on parents, community leaders and stakeholders to unite in the fight against this trend. He stressed that protecting the younger generation is vital for the region’s future.

Regarding public health, the Minister advised religious leaders to discourage the burial of deceased persons within homes and residential compounds.

He stated that using designated cemeteries is the standard for maintaining proper sanitation and ensuring the long-term health of the community.

North East Muslims praying

The Minister also addressed the economic challenges facing the area. Citing the Ghana Statistical Service report, which ranks the North East as the poorest region in the country, he appealed to developers and investors to take action.

He urged them to consider the difficult living conditions of the local people and to invest in projects that will directly improve the lives of residents in the North East Region.
