A delegation from the Supreme Court of Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the leadership of Media General as part of activities marking the apex court’s 150th anniversary.

The visit on June 17, whcih was led by justices of the apex court, is aimed at broadening stakeholder engagement to deepen public understanding of the judiciary’s role.

Addressing the leadership of Media General, the delegation outlined a series of activities lined up to celebrate the 150-year milestone.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Chairman of the Supreme Court at 150 Anniversary Planning Committee, His Lordship Justice Richard Adjei Frimpong, said there is every reason for the nation to celebrate the Court and urged all Ghanaians to participate.

“There is every reason to celebrate the Supreme Court and all Ghanaians should participate… We will have a legal aid clinic; we will meet with the common people on the streets and educate them about their rights,” Justice Adjei Frimpong said.

He added that the delegation will collaborate with stakeholders to improve the justice delivery system.

“We need to look at where we are now as a Court and how we have fared over the years… We need to chart a course into the future,” he stated.

The theme for the celebration is ‘The Supreme Court of Ghana at 150: Honouring the Past, Celebrating the Present and Defining the Future’

The Supreme Court’s 150th anniversary activities are expected to enhance public trust and engagement with the judiciary while reflecting on its legacy and future direction.

The delegation was received by the Group Chief Operating Officer of Media General, Mr Nuamah Eshun- Famiyeh, General Manager in charge of News, Mr Astus Ahiagble, and General Manager for Onu Group, Mr Stephen Schandorf.
