The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that the ongoing power outage affecting several communities in the Western Region is the result of an upstream challenge.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, June 18, 2026, ECG said the disruption is impacting a number of areas, including Diabene, Nkroful, Kansawurodu, Ntankorful, Mt Zion, Anaji, East Tanokrom, TTI, Effiakuma, Effia, SSNIT Flats, Adiembra, Kweikuma, Essaman, Nkontompo, parts of BU, Fijai, Ahenkofikrom, Kojokrom, Beahu, Ewusiejoe, Aboadze, Ahanta, Mpintsin, Sofokrom and surrounding communities.

According to the power distributor, the outage is linked to an upstream challenge beyond its immediate distribution network, resulting in an interruption of electricity supply to the affected areas.

ECG assured customers that its engineers are on standby and are working closely to ensure power is restored as soon as the challenge is resolved.

The company expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for patience while efforts are made to restore supply.
