Ghana supporters will not receive government-provided free tickets for the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation confirming that its ticket support scheme ended after the group phase.

The Ministry, in a statement dated June 29, 2026, said the government’s ticket arrangement covered only Ghana’s three group-stage matches against Panama, England and Croatia.

The Black Stars advanced to the Round of 32, where they will face Colombia, but fans hoping for similar support from the government will now have to purchase tickets through official FIFA channels or authorised ticketing agencies.

Under the group-stage scheme, the government secured a limited number of tickets for Ghana’s matches to support selected fan groups, sponsors, stakeholders and diaspora communities. The allocation included 948 tickets for Ghana’s opening match against Panama, 1,000 tickets for the England clash and 974 tickets for the final group game against Croatia.

The Ministry explained that the tickets were not for commercial purposes but were part of a coordinated national support initiative. It stated that the distribution process involved Ghana’s missions in Canada and the United States, recognised Ghanaian associations, supporter groups and community structures.

“The Government of Ghana’s World Cup group-stage ticket support scheme has come to an end,” the statement said, adding that “there is currently no Government-supported ticket arrangement for any subsequent stage of the competition.”

The Ministry also acknowledged the disappointment of supporters who were unable to receive tickets due to limited availability. It noted that demand was higher than the number of tickets obtained, reflecting the strong support and interest surrounding the Black Stars’ campaign.

Ghana’s qualification to the knockout stage marks a major achievement, with the team reaching the next round after a win over Panama, draw against England and a 2-1 defeat to Croatia.

As the tournament continues, fans wishing to attend the Round of 32 match against Colombia will need to secure tickets independently through FIFA’s official platforms and approved ticketing partners.
