The dead body of a young lady believed to be in her teens has been retrieved from a commercial minibus, popularly known as a trotro, at Alajo following the devastating floods that hit parts of Accra after Monday’s heavy rainfall.
The body was discovered inside the vehicle which was drowned by the floods and swept away in a gutter at Alajo.
The vehicle was found on Wednesday, July 1 after floodwaters receded in the area. Residents who searched the drowned minibus reportedly found the lifeless body inside.
Authorities are yet to officially identify the victim or determine how he became trapped in the vehicle.

The discovery adds to the growing death toll from Monday’s floods, which submerged homes, roads and vehicles across several communities in the Greater Accra Region.
On Tuesday June 30, Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak told Parliament that 38,802 people were displaced and 12 lives lost following Monday’s (June 29) devastating floods that swept through parts of Greater Accra, while seven others were reported missing as of Tuesday morning.
According to the Minister, the floods displaced 7,761 households and affected 25 communities across 16 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, disrupting movement and preventing many commuters from accessing Accra’s Central Business District.
