The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh, has urged the government to strengthen policies and regulations to ensure Ghana fully benefits from the global carbon credit market.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, he said the carbon market should serve as a tool for national development by creating jobs, attracting investment, protecting communities, and supporting climate action.
Dompreh called for transparent regulations, stronger protection of Ghana’s national interest, and high integrity carbon projects.
The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, also stressed the need to build local expertise, strengthen the Ghana Carbon Registry, and improve coordination among key institutions.
He was of the view that with effective governance, Ghana can position itself as a leading destination for credible carbon market investment in Africa while safeguarding its long-term development goals.
