Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs strategic and visionary leadership to overcome its current challenges and reposition itself for victory in the next general election.
Speaking after his vetting on Tuesday, July 21,2026, the aspiring Ashanti Regional Chairman, said the party is going through a difficult period and requires leaders who are capable of planning effectively, uniting the rank and file, and restoring the confidence of members to bring the NPP back to government.
He expressed disappointment over the party’s current situation, noting that the primary objective of every political party is to win political power and govern.
He said it is with this conviction that he has offered himself to serve as the Ashanti Regional Chairman to help achieve that goal.
The Vetting Committee is responsible for scrutinizing prospective candidates who have picked and submitted nomination forms to contest various regional executive positions.
The vetting process is aimed at assessing the eligibility and competence of aspirants, maintaining the integrity of the party, preventing internal conflicts, and ensuring that the NPP presents capable leaders who can earn the trust and confidence of both delegates and the general public.
Expressing confidence ahead of the regional elections, COKA said he is optimistic that delegates will give him the mandate to lead the party in the Ashanti Region.
He added that his vision is to build a stronger and more united regional party with effective structures that will empower the grassroots, strengthen internal organization, and position the NPP for electoral success in future elections.
Earlier, a massive crowd of delegates and party faithful descended on the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) vetting center to show overwhelming support for COKA) as he successfully passed his vetting and picked the Number One position on the ballot paper.
The prominent political figure and Regional Chairman aspirant was greeted by enthusiastic crowds clad in COKA-branded apparel, chanting slogans of unity, grassroot empowerment, and party revival as he arrived before the Vetting Committee.
Successful Vetting and Picking Slot Number One
Following a thorough screening process by the Ashanti Regional NPP Vetting Committee, COKA cleared all hurdles to officially secure his spot in the upcoming regional executive elections.
In what his campaign team and supporters have hailed as a divine and symbolic sign of victory, COKA picked the #1 spot during the balloting process.
“Picking the number one position is not a coincidence; it reflects our standing as the premier choice to lead, unite, and strengthen the NPP in the Ashanti Region,” a representative from the COKA campaign team declared following the balloting.
The atmosphere surrounding the vetting venue reflected COKA’s deep-rooted appeal among constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, and polling station officers across the region.
Supporters at the venue cited his long-standing dedication to the party’s grassroots as the driving force behind his growing momentum.
