Minister of the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Juaboso Constituency, have paid a visit to the Sefwi Sayerano community following the police shooting incident.

On July 7, 2026, armed police personnel from the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Command stormed the Sefwi Sayerano community to arrest a suspected drug peddler.

During the arrest, the suspect was subjected to severe beatings, which caused some residents to intervene to resist the arrest.

The police started opening fire indiscriminately. As a result, five people were shot, and two were killed instantly.

Following the incidents, the eight personnel who were allegedly involved in the shooting have been interdicted pending investigation.

The Minister of the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and the MP for Sefwi Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, have paid a visit to the victims who sustained gunshots and the bereaved families.

Addressing the community at a gathering, the Minister of Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, commiserated with bereaved families and the injured victims.

While pleading with the residents to remain calm to allow proper investigation to continue, he promised to construct a police station in the community.

Again, the Interior Minister promised to provide police recruitment slots for the families who have lost their relatives as compensation.

He assured the community that the right things would be done and justice would be served without fear or favour.

On his part, the MP for Sefwi Juaboso, who is also the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, urged the community members to maintain calm. He further stated that he would do whatever in his power to bring justice to the families.

He described the incident as unfortunate and said it must not happen again.
