The Black Satellites were 4-2 losers to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in their opening Group B game at the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Ghanaians were 3-1 down at the break much to the chagrin of supporters at Yamoussoukro’s Lycee Scientifique.
A converted penalty by Kelvin Nkrumah gave the Satellites short-lived hope as the Nigerians came in strongly to also restore their 2-0 lead.
That goal, also scored from the spot, was recording in the dying embers of the game.
Maxwell Konadu’s side will face off against Burkina Faso on Thursday in their second group game before taking on Togo in their final group game on Sunday.
