Kwasi Kwarteng, Member, NPP’s Communications Team, has said that the Member of Parliament for the Klottey-Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings should have been appointed as Minister way earlier.
However, he said, the current appointment is welcome.
“I feel Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings should have been named in the earlier appointment. However, it’s better late than never,” Kwarteng said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday August 8.
For his part, the Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, also welcomed the nomination of Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
President John Dramani Mahama nominated her on Friday, August 7.
This was contained in a press release issued by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on August 7.
Commenting on this on the Key Points, Dafeamekpor said “The appointment of Dr. Zanetor as Minister for Environment Science and Technology has been long in coming.”
The Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has also been nominated to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The Works and Housing Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned to Ministry of Defense and Ahmed Ibrahim also moved from the Local Government Ministry to Works, Housing and Water Resources.
Dr Zanetor and Mahama Ayariga’s nominations fill the void created by the death of Dr Edward Omane-Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed on August 6, 2025 in a helicopter crash.
