A fatal road crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026 on Somanya-Nkurakan Highway at Akode No 2, the town before Asseseso.
One male driver died on the spot while 10 other persons sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Yilo Krobo District Hospital in Somanya.
The accident involved two Hyndai H100 passenger vehicles, with registration numbers ER1660-21, and ER 1564-21, which reportedly collided head on while traveling in opposite directions.
Fire officers from Lower Manya Krobo Kpong Fire Station were at hand and worked to extricate the trapped deceased driver and injured passengers from the vehicles.
Further details on the cause of the accident and the conditions of the injured are yet to emerge.
