The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has expressed shock and dismay at the continued delay in passing the Cocoa Farmers Bill by Parliament.

‎In a statement signed by the President of the Association, Farmer General Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu II, on Friday, August 21,2026, described the bill as critical to the survival of Ghana’s cocoa sector and the livelihoods of thousands of farmers across the country.

According to him, the delay is paving the way for: ‎Destruction of cocoa farms by illegal miners, and ‎conversion of cocoa lands into rubber plantations.

‎”This is a direct threat to Ghana’s cocoa production, our national economy, and the future of farming communities.

‎We are therefore calling on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament to immediately direct the Cocoa Farmers Bill to the President for assent without further delay,” he said.

‎If we do not hear any positive action from Parliament by the end of this month, we will be compelled to march to Parliament to make our voices heard.

‎Farmers cannot wait any longer. Every day of delay puts more cocoa farms at risk.
