The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) has announced that it will carry out the next phase of work on its tower on the Ashaiman section of the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line which got damaged following a tanker explosion near
It said this phase of the work will be carried out on Sunday 23rd August, 2026 from 3am to 6pm.
This is contained in a press release dated August 22.
“Our engineers and technical teams will use this period to safely undertake the remaining work to restore the integrity of the transmission line.
To facilitate the replacement works and ensure the safety of personnel and the public, power supply to some locations in the Greater Accra Region will be interrupted during the period of work,” GRIDCo explained
The statement further noted that, “GRIDCo is collaborating with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), to mitigate the impact of the power supply interruption on customers and communities in areas affected by the planned works.”
GRIDCo apologised for the inconvenience this interruption will cause and requested the patience, understanding and cooperation of the public as it works progressively to complete this critical work.
