The Western North Regional Minister has embarked on an inspection of projects being undertaken in the Bia West district to ensure they are completed within the expected time frame.
The Bia West District Assembly, led by Matthew Annor, has undertaken numerous infrastructure projects in the district.
The Assembly is working on 16 projects in some of its communities. Some of the projects are newly started, while others are legacy projects and are being funded by the District Assembly Common Fund.
The projects include mechanised boreholes, a 3-unit classroom block, a 6-unit classroom block, a modern KG block, CHPs compounds and a nurses’ bungalow and most importantly, the 24-hr economy market.
Some beneficiary communities are Kramokrom, New Papase, Ntonsue, Asuopri, Asuontaa, New Agogo, Adjofua, Kojo Aba, Oseikojokrom and many more.
Apart from the projects under the Assembly’s supervision, the district has also benefited from some central government projects, including the construction of a girls’ dormitory for Bia Lamplighter College of Education, and the Big Push roads construction is ongoing in the area.
Speaking to the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Bentum, after a successful inspection of the projects with his entourage from the Regional Coordinating Council, he expressed satisfaction with the work done so far in the various communities.
The minister said it is the responsibility of the regional coordinating council to periodically inspect the projects being undertaken by the assemblies.
With the work done so far, Brentum was optimistic that the government’s resetting agenda is on course and the development of the Western North Region is also taking shape.
The Bia West District Chief Executive, Matthew Annor, disclosed that the government has made funds available to pay every contractor once they complete their projects.
Matthew Annor, on the work done at the 24-hr economy market site at Oseikojokrom, said he is impressed with what the contractor has done after barely three months of work. He commended the contractor for their positive attitude towards the contract awarded.
The projects, after completion, especially the health facilities, will improve access to healthcare in Bia West, and the 24-hr economy market will also boost the economy as the district shares borders with the neighbouring Ivory Coast.
