Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed pride and honour to be handed a role extension in charge of the national team.
The Portuguese was on Wednesday, September 2 announced as reaching an agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to stay on as Black Stars coach.
Breaking silence on the agreement, Carlos Queiroz, who led the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, indicated that he finds it a “a privilege, a responsibility and a mission to honour one of Africa’s greatest football nations and its incredible and passionate football People”.
“I am proud of what our players, staff and Federation achieved together under challenging circumstances at the 2026 World Cup final competition,” he wrote on his official Instagran page.
“Their courage, discipline and commitment restored belief, competitiveness and the Pride of a Nation.”
He sees his continuation as the beginning of a new chapter, emphasizing that the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations should be the next major project to propel the team to the next World Cup.
“The Africa Cup of Nations is much more than our next destination — it is the golden gateway to building the Black Stars that will shine and proudly compete at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.”
He had emphasised: “Serving Ghana is far more than coaching a football team.”
For him, the ambition is clear: “Improve every day, unite the nation, make Ghana stronger and fight for every victory with passion, humility and pride.”
Queiroz’s first assignment will be against three-time African champions La Cote d’Ivoire 2028 AFCON qualifiers.
