Gospel music legend Bernice Offei has died at the age of 63, according to reports. She is reported to have died on the morning of Saturday, 12 September 2026.
Offei recorded six studio albums throughout her career. Her sixth album, Life, released in 2007, earned her two major wins at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards: Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year.
Outside of her music career, Offei was a professional banker who spent years working with Standard Chartered Bank. She held an MPhil in Crop Science from the University of Ghana and an MSc in Information Technology from a university in the United Kingdom.
She was briefly reported missing on 1 September 2026, after being last seen in Accra. However, within 24 hours, her family and local authorities confirmed that she had been found safe and sound.
