The Ghana Police Service has interdicted a police officer in connection with the death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo on the Tema Motorway.
The officer has been identified as General Corporal Robert Koranteng.
In a statement issued on September 12, the Police said the officer was identified, arrested and interdicted following initial investigations into a viral video concerning the incident, which occurred on 27th August 2026.
According to the Service, the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is intensifying efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has been tasked with investigating the conduct of the officer, who is currently in custody.
“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigations,” the statement said.
The interdiction comes after public outrage on social media, following the circulation of a video purported to show the events leading to the death of the young man.
