The Adentan Circuit court has granted 40-year-old Techiman-based nurse, Salomey Awiti Baffoe, a bail of GHC100,000 with two sureties to be justified after her lawyers prayed for same from the court.

Madam Awiti Baffoe has been charged with abetting the publication of false news in connection with tiktoker ‘Ghana Jollof’.

In court on Monday, October 5, 2026, lawyers for the nurse, led by Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, prayed for her release on bail citing that she had been in Police custody for three weeks.

This would be the lawyer’s third attempt following an earlier refusal by the Accra High Court in September.

The prosecution led by Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, did not oppose the prayer for bail.

After hearing the submission, presiding judge, Angela Attachie, then granted Salomey a bail of 100,000 cedis with two sureties to be justified. The sureties, the court added must be civil servants earning not less than GHC3,000.

As part of the bail conditions, the Techiman-based nurse is also to report to Police investigators once every two weeks at the Hansua Police station in the vicinity.

The case has been adjourned to February 17, 2027, for continuation.

Baffour Awuah, lead counsel for Techiman based nurse expressed enthusiasm at the decision of the court.

“There couldn’t have been a better outcome for me than this. It’s been a very sad journey, a difficult moment that has had our skin getting encumbered in the game,” he indicated in an interview with the media.

There was an attempted arrest of the Manhyia South legislator by an official of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) at the forecourt of the Accra High Court when he filed a bail application after being refused by the Adentan Circuit Court.

He was subsequently arrested and detained by EOCO officials for two nights after an altercation with the officer at High Court’s premises.

The investigative body had indicated that the Manhyia South MP was under investigations over a deal involving the SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Ltd.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah was then arraigned on Saturday, October 3, and charged with multiple offences including conspiracy to commit intentional dissipation of public funds, intentionally causing financial loss to the state and money laundering. He has pleaded not guilty and is on a GHC10million bail with two sureties without justification.
