The Ashanti Regional Office of the Electricity Company of Ghana as part of its revenue drive to recover the huge debt owed them by the public has disconnected power supply to the official residence of the Amansie South District Chief Executive at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti region.

About four floodlights were on when the ECG taskforce arrived at the residence.

The residence of the DCE, Clement Opoku, was among several private homes and public institutions disconnected on the revenue mobilisation exercise in the district.

Also disconnected during the operation included some Bungalows of the Amansie South District Assembly, Office of the Immigration Service in the district, Ghana Education Service Office in the District, among others.

Speaking in an interview with our news team in Kumasi during the operation, the Ashanti Regional Director of the ECG, Ing David Boadi Asamoah said electricity connections to the DCE’s official residence was unauthorised and should not be accepted.

He said his metre has not been captured in their system and need to do the right thing.

He pointed out that, the DCE consumes electricity free without paying anything to them.

Despite his good working relationship with the DCE, who is a friend, Ing. Boadi Asamoah said he had no option than to do his professional job.

“As a professional, you need to distinguish friendship from professionalism… We are only helping him do the right thing,” he told OnuaOnline.

He bemoaned illegal connection activities in the region and called on all to support them clamp down on their activities.
