At Aburi-Kitase in the Akuapem South Municipality of the Eastern Region, a 13-year-old girl has escaped death from four men who abducted her for an alleged ritual killing on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Reports indicate the young girl was kidnapped by the four unidentified men whilst on her way to buy food around 8pm. She stays near former President Kufuor’s residence at Kitase.
The young girl, according to reports, was saved by a man who fired warning shots upon detecting the activities of the abductors who wanted to slash her breast after tying her hands and legs.
Assembly Member for Kitase Electoral Area, Frank Amankwah, who confirmed the incident to Accra-based Citi FM linked the growing insecurity in the area to the malfunctioning streetlights along the Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge stretch.
He called on the Inspector General of Police to tighten security in the area to curb the rising insecurity and crimes near the Peduase Presidential Lodge.
“I have made several complaints about these traffic issues. From Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge, the street lights situated there are all not functioning. Boys from Ashaiman, Madina, Nungua, and nearby towns all come here, so if something like this happens, we cannot identify the source of it.
“So, I am pleading for adequate security in the area. It is very unfortunate how loose the security is in Peduase Lodge. I plead with the IGP and all the security apparatus to come to our aid.” he he stated.
