The military colonel who was accused with ACP Dr. Benjamin Agordzo, according to the police officer, shot up his admiration for the Ghana Armed Forces due to how they treated their fellow.

The police officer says whilst his own people abandoned him in the course of the trial, the military colonel was not dejected by his people.

He explains the soldier was sometimes escorted to court by his people to show him support and solidarity unlike in his case. The treatment, he noted, compared to his case, made him admire the soldiers more.

“At a point in time I admired the military because they were even allowing a colonel to follow the military colonel to court almost all the time to give him the moral support. Today, that colonel is out. He’s been acquitted and discharged. Did I have that benefit? Nobody cared about me, nobody thought about me,” he disclosed.

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, he sought protection for his family during his trial, considering how politically inclined his prosecution was, leaving the family vulnerable. But his request was not adhered to.

“Even at the time that I was arrested, assuming you’re in the house with your children, as a very senior officer, and then you make appeal to the police that anybody –because this is a politically inclined whatever –could attack my family, [so] could you help with some patrol…nobody even bothered to; nobody minded me at all. And so my family was vulnerable throughout these five years, particularly when I was in custody. Nobody thought about my welfare,” he said on TV3’s Hot Issues with Keminni Amanor Sunday, January 28, 2024.
