Residents of Adum-Afrancho in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality of the Ashanti Region have appealed to overlord of Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to bring to closure, the raging chieftaincy dispute in the area.

The petitioners want the Manhyia Palace to bring finality to the long standing chieftaincy disputes which has recently claimed one life and injured two others.

The incident happened on July 3, 2022, when 38-year-old bar operator, Samuel Yeboah, met his untimely death in his attempt to separate a fight linked to the said chieftaincy crises.

The petitioners say the intervention of the Asante monarch will bring a lasting peace to the town. The angry youth have launched a desperate appeal to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to resolve the leadership crisis that have bedeviled the community for several years.

“We are appealing to Otumfuo to step into this matter. He is the owner of this land. His intervention will diffuse the tensions in this area”, said one of the petitioners who gave his name as Akwasi Bruku. “Otumfuo’s father is from this town and it is quite surprising that we are not safe under his watch.”
