A brace from Thembo Zwane and goals from talisman Percy Tau and Thapelo Maseko gave the Bafana Bafana of South Africa a 4-0 win over the Brave Warriors of Namibia in their second Group E game at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The 1996 champions lost their first game by a lone goal to Mali and had to avoid defeat on Sunday to stand a chance of making it out of the group.

Namibia were brimming with confidence going into the game, having recorded their first ever win in the history of the tournament in their first game. They beat 2004 champions Tunisia.

But the South Africans showed their mettle after Al Ahly man Tau put his side in the lead from the spot.

Zwane made it two a few minutes later and had his brace before the break.

With their performance in the first game on the minds of everyone, Namibia were believed to have what it takes to come back strongly.

However, Mamelodi Sundowns forward Maseko put the game beyond them with his first goal of the tournament.

The result is the biggest so far at the tournament.

South Africa’s final game will be against Tunisia while Namibia will play Mali for their chase for a maiden qualification out of the group.
