A former Greater Accra Regional Minister under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo has called on the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-markin, to apologize on behalf of his caucus to the member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Zanetor Rawlings.

According to Mr Afotey Agbo who is former Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso, describing Zanetor Rawlings as “daughter of a murderer” is in a bad taste, thus Parliament should facilitate investigations into the matter.

He made the call at a news conference in Accra on February 10.

Last week, a Member of Parliament in the Minority group shouted during proceedings when Ms Rawlings was on the floor that “daughter of a murderer, keep quiet.”

This triggered agitations among the Majority caucus and a section of Ghanaians who have described this as despicable act.

Mr Afotey Agbo called on Mr Afenyo-Markin to resolve the problem by apologizing to Ms Rawlings.

“I am calling on the leader of the Minority caucus Afenyo-markin, he should just own up. I know who he is and I have known him for years. I know the good side of him this, should not be a problem for him to come out to say speak on behalf of the minority group so that it will be on record,” Mr Afotey Agbo suggested.

The former legislator, who is now contesting for a place on the Council of State,  recounted the immeasurable contributions of the former head of state Jerry Rawlings to the country.

He said justice has been lost for sometime now in the country and the current NDC administration should be swift to reinstate it.

“We are not getting justice in our country. We have not had justice for some years now, so today it looks like we are trying to forget the past that is why people are still misbehaving. When you hear of some of the things that are happening at some state departments like the Lands Commission, young people will deliberately take money from people and take people’s property and give it to some other people because of money,” he alleged.

He added that “You go to the police for justice the officer in charge of the Ghana police will turn the truth down and make sure that the thief rather has his way. We have gone through this for all these years. I am mentioning things, and I know what I am saying.”
