The Western North Regional Minister, Willbert Petty Brentum, has warned contractors involved in the Agenda 111 Hospital project to refrain from removing building materials from construction sites.
Mr. Brentum indicated that he had received reports alleging that many contractors were taking materials from the sites.
While acknowledging that some contractors are owed payments by the government, the minister emphasized that this does not justify removing any materials from the sites.
He has further stated that such actions are illegal and called on the contractors to visit his office to discuss the matter. Mr. Brentum has reassured the contractors that the government is committed to the successful completion of the project and is working on resolving the outstanding issues.
He has urged the contractors to remain patient as the government is taking steps to ensure that work on the sites can resume promptly.
The Minister made these remarks at Adabokrom in the Bia East District, where local leaders appealed for the completion of the hospital project.
The Agenda 111 project, initiated by the previous NPP government, aims to build 111 hospitals to improve the country’s healthcare system.
The Western North Region has benefited from the project, with three districts—Bodi, Suaman Dadieso, and Bia East—being selected. However, none of the projects in these districts have been completed yet.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured the public that the government remains committed to the timely completion of the hospitals.
