Management and staff of Akoma 87.9FM, a subsidiary of Media General based in Kumasi, have embarked on a massive clean-up exercise in parts of the Asokwa Municipality.

The exercise was done in collaboration with the Asokwa Municipal Assembly.

The main road linking Asokwa and Dompoase was the focal point during the clean-up exercise.

The Ghana Prison Service also joined the exercise.

Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Amo Kamel lauded Akoma FM for the exercise. “It is so encouraging to have you on this project. You have a huge platform that we can use to promote cleanliness and proper hygiene in our municipality. Now, what we need is sustainability, and that is where our by-laws will be applied to ensure strict compliance.”

Station Manager of Akoma 87.9fm, Ransford Nana Osei Asare, said, “We are committed to any campaign geared toward the protection of our environment. We as a station have been consistent on this with a series of news reports and documentaries.”

“This clean-up exercise also forms part of celebrating 6 years of broadcast in the Golden Kingdom. We are grateful to Asantehene and his support and the good people of the Ashanti Region for accepting us.”
