A lecturer at the Department of History and Political Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Samuel Adu Gyamfi says “President Akufo-Addo doesn’t give a damn about Bawumia.”
Speaking on Onua TV/FM Maakye Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Prof. Adu Gyamfi noted Akufo-Addo has set a trap for Dr. Bawumia making him useless in the current administration.
The political scientist said the personality of Bawumia “would have made him come out to admit certain things in the economy are bad and seek help.”
However, there have been many unpopular economic policies Dr. Bawumia has objected where his inputs were rubbished.
Prof. Adu Gyamfi says Bawumia is being sabotaged without a consideration of how affairs of the state is run.
“The President has set a trap for Bawumia. I see Bawumia to be someone who would have come out with the truth but he has been made ‘Simpa Panin’ and even when he talks, they take what they want.
“Those with the President do whatever they want. They run affairs. From where I sit, he is deliberately sabotaging Bawumia and like the white man would say ‘doesn’t give a damn’,” he told host, Captain Smart.
He, however, advised that, even though it is the unlikeliest thing for him to resign, “Bawumia should let the world know his sort that his mind doesn’t go with the president on a lot of things, example is the e-levy.”
Prof. Adu Gyamfi added further that “the President’s personal interest has clouted his leadership and also has a political agenda to satisfy a certain group in this country. He is deliberately and systematically downgrading and eliminating his [Bawumia] candidature because if Bawumia contests anybody in the NDC now, he will lose massively.
His comment stems from conversations that have sparked over the calls for Ken Ofori-Atta’s removal.
