John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said President Akufo-Addo is aware that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is losing the December elections.

According to Mahama, the President’s recent comments indicate he is aware the tables are turning against his party.

He made the comments during a campaign rally at Biakoye in the Oti Region Monday, November 04, 2024, where he indicated that there is a shift in tone implying the President’s acceptance of the reality.

Mahama says Akufo-Addo is preparing the grounds for handing over power to the NDC, unlike his earlier position where he said he wasn’t going to hand over to any other party than the NPP.

Whilst speaking, he referenced the recent comment’s of the President where he has been highlighting on peaceful transition, saying he will hand over to whoever wins the polls.

He stated that the President’s recent comments is an indication of his acknowledgement of the NPP’s defeat in the election, rather than it being a mere democratic assurance.

“The reason you must vote for the NDC is that we will go after all who have stolen from the public purse. Dr Bawumia cannot hold them accountable. That was why he said he would not hand over power to me.

“But recently, I heard him say he will hand over power to whoever wins. It is just because he knows that the NPP is about to lose the election. He knows that John Dramani Mahama is coming back to the Jubilee House,” he stated.
