President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated three new justices of the Supreme Court pending approval by Parliament.
The nominees are; Henry Anthony Kwofie, Yaw Asare Darko, and Adjei Frimpong, all Court of Appeal judges.
First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu referred the nominees to the Appointments Committee of the House for consideration and report.
A letter President Akufo-Addo wrote to Parliament on the nomination said “…I consulted with the Council of State by submitting the names and CVs of the nominees for appointment to the court. The Council of State has by a letter dated 11 August 2023, notified me of the successful completion of the consultation process.
“Therefore, in accordance with article 144(2) of the Constitution, seeking the approval of Parliament for the appointment of the nominees as justices of the Supreme Court.”
