An accident at Adanwomaso in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region has claimed three lives, with two others in critical condition on Wednesday, July,9, 2025.

The head-on collision involved a bullion van on top speed and a Kia truck carrying bags of cement.

Four of the accident victims, including two police officers, were onboard the bullion van. Only the driver survived.

Information gathered by our news team, indicates that the bullion van veered into the lane of the oncoming Kia truck, causing the tragedy.

“The driver of the Van and the Kia driver are seriously injured, and both cars are damaged beyond recognition,” an eyewitness said.

Our source noted, this is the first time such an accident has occurred on the road stretch from Bonwire to Adanwomaso since it was reconstructed.

It is recalled that in April this year, another tragic accident occurred at Ayaase in the Ashanti Region, leaving eight people dead.

The fatal head-on collision between a Mercedes Sprinter bus and a Grandbird bus happened on Tuesday, April 22, along the Bekwai-Fomena highway near the ECG office at Adansi Dompoase.

Preliminary assessment by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) indicate that the Sprinter bus (GS 6383-20), carrying 23 passengers from Kumasi to Assin Fosu, attempted to overtake a Toyota Corolla (GE 7271-24) but instead collided head-on with an oncoming Grandbird bus (GW 8455-23) traveling from Takoradi to Kumasi.

The impact forced the Grandbird bus to veer off the road, tragically striking and killing two female pedestrians; 16-year-old Lordina and her 4-year-old sister, Kandra.

Six passengers aboard the Sprinter bus (four men and two women) died on the spot. Several others, including the Grandbird bus driver, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Fomena Government Hospital and St. Benito Hospital in Dompoase.
