Former Vice President and 2024 flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has begun his three-day campaign in the party’s stronghold, the Ashanti region.
He is expected to meet with thousands of delegates grouped in clusters from across all the 47 constituencies in the region. The move is expected to ensure a one-on-one engagement with the delegates.
“Dr Bawumiah always want to have a personal interaction to understand the sentiments of party members and also elicit ideas which will be incorporated in his broader plan for the party and the country as a whole” a member of his campaign team told Akoma FM’s Williams Evans-Nkum.
On Day One of his tour, Dr. Bawumia is expected to meet 15 constituencies zoned into three clusters.
Day Two will see him meet 14 constituencies with the remaining 19 constituencies meeting him on the final day. Among those he will meet will be Council of Elders of the party as well as all former executives of the NPP.
Dr Bawumia is seeking a renewed mandate from the NPP to lead the party into the 2028 election. The party votes on January 31, 2026 to elect its flag bearer.
