The Ashanti Sub-Transmission Line Maintenance team completed a major upgrade project on the transmission line connecting Ridge Bulk Supply Point (BSP) to Kaase Substation, despite challenging weather conditions on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The upgrade involved replacing the existing 265mm² conductor with a larger 400mm² conductor, a move aimed at increasing the capacity and flexibility of the network.

The improvement will enhance the ability to supply power to the Kaase Primary Substation from Ridge BSP while also benefiting customers connected to the Sewua, Kuntenase and Bekwai substations.

According to ECG, the project is expected to strengthen system reliability, improve voltage stability and support a more dependable electricity supply for households, businesses and critical services within the affected areas.

“We couldn’t wait for the weather to clear. Customers depend on us, so we pushed through to complete the work,” said Network Maintenance Manager, Ing. James Mensah Yevunya.

The dedication of the maintenance team highlights ECG’s continued efforts to modernise its power network, improve service delivery and ensure a more resilient electricity system for communities across the Ashanti Region.
