29-year-old Philomena Owusu who is battling for her life after her husband bathed her with acid and killed their 9-month-old baby girl at Gomoa Pomadze in the Central region, has broken her silence.

According to her, Enock Mensah, her husband intended to kill her and save their daughter.

She explains the husband asked her to leave her baby on the ground for them to have a discussion which she declined.

She said her conduct infuriated the husband who angrily poured out the acid on them.

Philomena has noted that the husband took to his heels when she started screaming for help.

Listen to her speak on Accra-based Adom FM.

Enock, who according to reports, resides in Takoradi has been fighting his wife before, during and after the pregnancy, a situation the neighbours have described as worrying.

Speaking with Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare, sister to the victim, Portia Owusu, indicated that the suspect returned to Pomadze to rent a new apartment for the wife and baby since their landlord was ejecting them from their current place of residence.

Upon his arrival, Portia disclosed that a misunderstanding ensued en-route to paying the rent, where Enock returned to the house for the acid to bath his wife and baby.

After rushing both victims to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, the baby girl died while the mother was transferred to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.
