The First National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Samuel Sarpong has assured that the incoming NDC government will prioritise accountability.

He says the government will probe the wastage caused by the current administration for culprits to face the full rigours of the law.

The former Kumasi Mayor has cautioned officials of this government to get themselves ready for accountability since the incoming administration will subject them to strict scrutiny.

“This incoming government is going to ensure accountability. And for that matter any person or official who was in the previous government who thinks that he/she has embezzled Ghanaians’ money should be prepared to face the law,” he stated.

Dr. Sarpong cited the State Housing Company Ltd where he alleged that the Managing Director used it for his party’s benefit.

“As at now I can use one company, that’s State Housing Company Limited. It is a government company but the way and manner the Managing Director used that company for his party benefit, I mean it is very sad.

“The company was used as a conduit where they were syphoning money for NPP’s agenda,” he alleged.

Dr. Sarpong said corruption must not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“The incoming administration has a duty to investigate and prosecute officials from the outgoing government who misused public funds, regardless of their rank or political affiliation. Those responsible for causing financial losses to the state must face swift and transparent justice.

“Allegations of financial misconduct within the current government must be thoroughly examined, and all questionable deals must be scrutinized and prosecuted where wrongdoing is found,” he reemphasised.
