The national U-20 women’s team, the Black Princesses, would have to beat their Nigerian counterparts on Thursday to win Gold at the ongoing African Games.

The girls booked a place in the final after seeing off Senegal in the second semi-final game of the tournament on Monday, March 18.

Ghana are yet to lose a match in the tournament and Monday’s emphatic win sends a statement about the determination of Yusif Basigi’s charges to scoop the Gold medal.

Tracy Twum began it all at the packed Cape Coast Sports Stadium when she opened the score for the hosts.

Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah doubled the Princesses’ lead before the break to keep the score 2-0.

After the break, the Senegalese pulled one back from the spot but Ophelia put the game beyond the visitors with her brace.

Earlier on Monday, Nigeria beat Uganda 2-0 to become the first side to reach the final.

With the semis cleared, Ghana and Nigeria will renew their rivalry in the final with the two teams fighting for the Gold medal.

The loser will settle for Silver.

Senegal and Uganda will also battle for the Bronze Medal in the third-place play-off.
