It was a night of glitz, glamour, and celebration of Ghanaian music as the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) came to a close.

The event, which was held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, saw some of Ghana’s top musicians being recognised for their outstanding contributions to the music industry.

One of the most highly coveted awards of the night was the Artiste of the Year award, which was won by Black Sherif.

The rising star beat out other top contenders such as Piesie Esther, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, Kidi and Joe Mettle to win the prestigious award.

Black Sherif, who rose to fame with his hit single ‘Second Sermon’, has quickly become one of Ghana’s most sought-after musicians. The young artiste’s unique blend of hip-hop and Afro beats has won him fans across the country and beyond.

Upon receiving the award, Black Sherif expressed his gratitude to God, his parents, and his fans for their support. He also thanked the VGMA organisers for recognising his work and giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent on such a big platform.

The Artiste of the Year award is just the latest in a series of accolades that Black Sherif has received in recent months. He won the Most Popular Song at the same event and has also been nominated for several other awards both locally and internationally.

The 24th VGMA was a night to remember, with top-notch performances from some of Ghana’s most talented musicians. With Black Sherif being crowned the Artiste of the Year, it’s clear that the future of Ghanaian music is in good hands.
